2025 - 2026 COACHING STAFF
The following coaches are responsible for the continued growth of Pittsburgh Steel City Selects Girls Hockey during the 2025-2026 season:

HEAD COACH 19U TEAM: MARK PITTMAN
Mark has been involved in hockey for over 50 years as both a player and a coach.
Mark has been coaching at North Pittsburgh Youth Hockey Association for over 16 years and served as the ADM Director in his early years with the organization.
Mark has coached both Coed and Girls Hockey teams at all ages and was part of several undefeated seasons and won multiple PAHL banners. In 2021, his 16U AA Team won the Mid-Am District Championship and attended the USA Hockey National Tournament.
His playing career consisted of playing for North Hills Amateur Association, Pittsburgh Stars, and attending Northwood Prep. School in Lake Placid, NY. He Played junior hockey with the Midwest Express, and College Hockey at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY.
His Hockey Philosophy starts with loving and respecting the game and the opponent, while striving to give your best every practice, every shift and every time you step on the ice.
Both of Mark’s kids, Austin and Maddie, played hockey for the North Pittsburgh Wildcats.

HEAD COACH 16U MAJOR AND MINOR TEAMS: JEFF TINDALL
Coach Tindall is excited to return as the 16U Head Coach for the Pittsburgh Steel City Selects for a second consecutive year after his team earned a Silver Medal in the 2025 USA Hockey Nationals. Jeff previously coached with Steel City for four seasons from 2016 – 2019.
Jeff began coaching his son at the RMU House League program where he coached a co-ed team. He continued coaching co-ed teams in the Foxes organization for multiple years until he was provided an opportunity to coach the girls 19U Pen Elite team in 2015. He then moved over to the Selects from 2016-2019. Coach Tindall has secured Midam District championships, with the Pens Elite 19U Girls, and every year at Steel City previously. In 2019 Coach Tindall helped secure Steel City’s first medal at nationals winning the bronze medal. Since 2019 Coach Tindall has coached High School Boys and Girls hockey within the PIHL. Last season Coach Tindall coached 16U for our Selects.
Coach Tindall believes in helping his players fall in love with the game of hockey first and helping his players develop and progress to the next level. Jeff has 20+ years of coaching experience locally as well as 25+ years of officiating experience, having officiated multiple Penguins Cup Finals, State Finals, Nationals and ACHA College Playoffs.

HEAD COACH 14U MAJOR TEAM: JIM BLACK
Jim Black will be entering his third season as the 14U Head Coach and 4th year as the Hockey Director for the Pittsburgh Steel City Selects organization
Jim started his coaching career in High School Hockey and had the privilege of coaching at multiple area School Districts. During those years as a Varsity Head Coach, he was part of State Championship teams with Pine Richland in 2005, North Allegheny in 2006 and 2013 and as an Assistant Coach with Beaver High School in 1992.
While coaching with Pittsburgh Steel City Selects, the 19U team won a National Championship and Gold Medal in 2022 and a Bronze medal in 2024.
Jim has 30+ years of coaching experience at the amateur level, high school, and girl’s hockey.

HEAD COACH 14U MINOR TEAM: ELLYN STANTON
Ellyn Stanton is entering her second season as the head coach for the U14 Pittsburgh Steel City Selects. A former goalie for the organization from 2009-2012, she was part of the team’s first bid to nationals in the 2011-2012 season.
Ellyn began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the Adrian College D1 Women’s ACHA team during the 2016-2017 season, immediately after graduating. She has also served as the head coach for Mon Valley’s U12 girls’ team and the Morgantown Blades U12 and U14 girls’ teams.
Bringing a deep love for the game into her coaching, Ellyn is dedicated to fostering player development, teamwork, and passion for hockey in every athlete she coaches.
